There have been a ton of rumors over the last six months about who would be playing at the Olympic's opening and closing ceremonies and, normally, the organizers are pretty closed lipped about the lineup, but Paul McCartney has let his little secret out of the bag.Paul said on Monday to BBC Radio 5, "I've been booked."
Who else will be there is not known, but there will be 15,000 participating in the opening. The show is being directed by Danny Boyle (Slumdog Millionaire) and is titled Isle of Wonder.

The Day Rock N' Roll Changed Forever
Most music lovers know that today is a banner day in music history. 48 years ago today, The Beatles flew across the pond and charmed a nation with their first of three appearances on The Ed Sullivan Show. 73 million TV viewers were watching that night, at that time a record audience and still one of the top 25 most watched single episodes of all time!
Here are 5 things you may not know about that night.........
1) The Fab Four didn't quite realize the gigantic audience Sullivan commanded every Sunday night on CBS, nor did they realize the show business influence he had. When they arrived at the studio and discovered the mob of people waiting, John Lennon became very nervous. So nervous, in fact, that he taped the lyrics of the songs they were to perform to the back of his guitar.
2) The Ed Sullivan Show marked the first actual in-studio American television appearance for The Beatles, but it was not their first time on American television. A month or so earlier, footage of one of their British concerts was shown on The Jack Paar Show.
3) Initially, Sullivan only planned to book them for a single performance at top dollar. The Beatles' manager, Brian Epstein, had a different idea. Seeking additional exposure, he agreed to less money for three appearances with the guarantee that they would receive top billing, both opening and closing each episode.
4) Over 50,000 ticket requests were received by Sullivan's staff for a studio with a seating capacity of only 700. Many celebrities who requested tickets and were personal friends of Ed Sullivan didn't get them, including legendary composer and conductor Leonard Bernstein!
5) The Beatles weren't the only rock stars performing on the show that night! Though he was still several years away from conquering the pop charts and record store cash registers, another young British singer appeared as part of the cast of the Broadway musical Oliver! He was........future Monkee Davy Jones!
Here is what 73 million people were glued to the evening of Sunday, February 9, 1964......

Golden Hits Radio's Everything Oldies.......Because the Oldies action never stops!
- One legendary group reunites to pay tribute to another legend
- The leader of the group mentioned above thinks Steve Jobs would have eventually brought music around to its roots
- As tributes pour in to the late Don Cornelius, the composer of the Soul Train theme song shares his remembrances
- The newest music biopic will focus on a Beach Boys/Fleetwood Mac love affair
Don Cornelius (1936-2012)
Golden Hits Radio pays tribute to the late Don Cornelius, who died yesterday of a self-inflicted gunshot wound at the age of 75. For many of us in America, Saturday afternoons not only played a big role in shaping our musical tastes but also taught us to dance, and Soul Train, along with American Bandstand, was the reason.
Cornelius was a journalist and part-time disc jockey by trade who had been successful promoting package shows around Chicago featuring soul and R&B artists. Chicago TV station WCIU took notice and gave Cornelius the chance to park the road show on television. Soul Train entered national syndication in 1971 after beginning as a local, Chicago-based program, but initially it only aired in 8 markets. It was an immediate hit, however, and within a few years it had spread to more than 100 stations across the country.
Soul Train became a necessary stop for the R&B A-list, and while most of the dancers and performers were African-American, several A-list white pop and rock artists were booked over the years, including David Bowie and Elton John.
Cornelius left the program as host in 1993 but continued on as Executive Producer until its cancellation in 2006. While he was rarely seen doing anything on camera other than introducing the songs played and the acts performing, in a rare moment in 1974 he took over the "Soul Train Dance Line" with former Supreme Mary Wilson. Here is the moment where Don Cornelius let loose and took the Soul Train dancers to school.........
Golden Hits Radio's Burning Question of the Day
Speaking of Soul Train, who was the first white artist to appear on the show (January 8, 1972) and which song did he perform?
